Our History For many years, Lesley College (now Lesley University) operated several lab schools under its Education department. They were collectively known as the Lesley College Schools for Children. When the schools were spun off from the college in 1981, the staff and administrators who ran the schools were determined to keep serving a wide range of children. They kept the name and created a new identity as the 501 (c )(3) not-for-profit organization Schools for Children, Inc. More recently, as this new venture, Schools for Children, Inc. celebrated its own 20th anniversary, a vision for the "new millennium" was crafted. Using today's terminology, we characterize our agency as an "Education Incubator".
