The S.T.E.P. Program

S.T.E.P. (Short Term Educational Program) is another demonstration of the innovative spirit that is alive and well at Schools for Children, Inc.  S.T.E.P. serves students who have been removed from their school systems for a short period of time as families and schools attempt to create educational plans following some significant disruption.  S.T.E.P provides stabilization and assessment services designed for elementary, middle and high school students who have been temporarily excluded from their educational placement.

In 2001, responding to surveys of local educators and taking advantage of space near the SFC office suite, staff and administrators from Dearborn Academy and Schools for Children worked together to quickly implement this new program. Dearborn Academy's excellent leadership has allowed this program to flourish from the beginning.
