The Summer Program
provides a highly structured, therapeutic environment. Students
are taught by teams composed of a teacher, counselor, and teaching
assistant.
The program offers a variety of experiences that aim
toward improving the academic and decision-making skills and
self-esteem of students.
On a typical day, students have a period dedicated to solidifying
academic skills learned during the school year, a counseling group
aimed at specific social skills and issues, and an activity period.
Students
have access to swimming and arts and crafts. An on-site jobs
program and Adventure Based Counseling designed to expand
students' self-esteem and self awareness, are available to students.
Weekly
field trips to local points of interest are provided for all
students.
A program-wide behavior management support program helps
maintain clear and consistent expectations for students, fosters
cooperative,
pro-social behaviors, and provides opportunities for positive
reinforcers.
Students are served breakfast and lunch. Families
may qualify for the Federal Nutrition Program, and be eligible
for Free
or Reduced
Meals. |
