Great teaching is
a hallmark of Lesley Ellis School. We are well known for the
quality of our teaching. Our exceptional faculty includes highly
experienced
and skillful teachers,
several of whom are affiliated with education programs at area
universities.
Our progressive aproach demands special teaching skills, creative
and innovative teachers, and a low student-teacher ratio. Lesley
Ellis School makes
ongoing investments in our teachers’ professional development,
provides internships for outstanding student teachers, and supports
and encourages teachers in creating innovative practices, programs,
and enhancements to our curriculum.

Students
enjoy reading time in the library. The Lesley Ellis curriculum
is designed to meet children's developmental
needs, provide academic challenges, and foster self-confidence.
Teachers serve as guides and facilitators to help students develop
independence and a sense of ownership with respect to their own
learning. At Lesley Ellis, we teach each child individually and
engage a variety of intellectual capacities — language skills,
spatial skills, etc. — as we present new themes and ideas
for learning.

Third and fourth graders
went on a field trip to the Sculpture Park at the DeCordova Museum.
Learning at Lesley Ellis is hands-on, active and exciting. Projects
and
frequent field trips support learning and help children develop
a sense of the environment around them. Getting out into the world
deepens understanding and helps children develop a sense of social
responsibility.

personal, warm and open atmosphere of our school. The faculty
and
staff are always accessible to families, and our parent community
is also active in the life of the school. The school believes
it
has a leadership role in the Arlington community as well, and involves
students in the local community.
