  At a Glance      
 
  • Located in Charlestown’s historic Navy Yard, Seaport Campus has a unique maritime setting with many area resources the students can learn from (e.g. USS Constitution Museum, Bunker Hill Community College, New England Aquarium, etc.)
  • Seaport offers individualized attention with a maximum of twenty four students, and a 1 to 3 staff/student ratio.
  • The school emphasizes activity based experiential learning in a small classroom setting, created to meet each student ’s individual learning style and needs.
  • Transition Planning curriculum offers students support around their goals.
  • This includes MCAS Prep, Job and Life Skills Training, College Prep and the opportunity to enroll in courses at Bunker Hill Community College.
  • The Seaport Renegades is a competitive basketball team that welcomes all students.
  • Students participate in creative and artistic projects that are published in the school’s literary magazine, Renegades
  • Our adventure based programming provides exciting opportunities to venture beyond the classroom. This includes daily educational Field Trips and extended overnight trips.
  • Enrichment Institutes, offered twice a year, provide students an intensive week long educational experience. Some examples of Seaport’s Institutes: Forensics, Life of a Civil War Soldier, local Community Service projects, Boating Safety, Poetry Slam and Wilderness Survival.
  • Seaport electives include Boating and Fishing, Wood Shop, Bike Shop, Video Production, Culinary Arts, Music, Photography, Art, Creative Writing, Film and Graphic Design. Visiting Art and Music teachers add to the diversity of Seaport ’s course selection.
  • Access to a 26’ fishing boat, sailboats, wood and bike shops, and local community resources promotes learning in a ver y different and effective way.
  • All graduating seniors have passed the MCAS test.
  • Graduates from Seaport have gone on to college, entered apprenticeship programs, enrolled in Job Corps, enlisted in the Armed Services and have been placed in a variety of job settings.
